TRAINING

Main Squad

The rigorous training programme of the Main Squad in 2020-21 will include:

 

  • On-court training 12:00-15:00 Saturday, led by our captains

  • On-court training fortnightly 20:00-22:00 Tuesday (half the squad trains at once), led by our excellent coach Daniel Bates

  • Strength & conditioning training 16:30-17:30 Friday, led by a fitness instructor from the USC.

  • Optional off-peak sessions Monday, Thursday and Friday involving independent training and game practice.

  • Individual fitness training is encouraged!

BUCS matches are held on Wednesday afternoons, with local league matches held throughout the week.

 

Coronavirus notice: BUCS and local league are suspended until at least January 2021. Coaching may be more limited than normal. Strength & Conditioning training may also be limited due to capacity restrictions. 

Development Squad

Now in its fourth year, the Development Squad will be continuing into the 2020-21 season, aimed at high-level college players who wish to take their game to the next level with drills, games and coaching from Main Squad members, all with feather shuttles. The Development Squad trains:

  • On-court training 10:00-12:00 Saturday, led by coaches from the Main Squad

  • Optional strength & conditioning training with the Main Squad 16:30-17:30 Friday, led by a fitness instructor from the USC. Coronavirus notice: due to capacity limitations, Main Squad will be given priority for this session and we cannot guarantee any spaces for Dev Squad until this is lifted.

 

All training takes place at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre (Google Maps).
